Talk:Fresh Precure Episode 14
Translation Notes -- Kanmuri
Part 1 -- Prologue
「思えば スウィーツ王国を旅立ち 早や 幾年月」
So, this was a bit difficult to decipher. Mostly the 早や 幾年月 part. I settled on something like, "By now, a number of months and years." And then went from there to something that sounded (more) natural in English.
「世間の風はどんだけ ワイに つめたいのん？」
Literally something like, "The way of this world is so very cold to me, isn't it?"
Pickrun names
So, I have
- Pirun （ピルン）
- Kirun （キルン）
- Burun （ブルン）
- Akarun （アカルン）
The only one I really question is "Burun", I'd like to keep it "Burun", but I think I've also seen it as "Blun" elsewhere. Just wanted to mention that.
Okay, after discussion on IRC, decided to go with "Blurun." It better conveys the "blue" part while maintaining the "run" part as well, to match the others.
"Aka!?"
The "Aka" here refers to the "Aka" part of "Akarun" which means, "Red." I wasn't sure if I should just leave it as "Aka" or translate it to "red."
Part 2 -- Akarun??
かんぜんにヘソ曲げてる
Okay, かんぜん is "completely", but I'm just having to make an educated guess on ヘソ曲げてる. ヘソ is navel, and 曲がる is bend. So he's completely "navel bent" right now. Best I can guess is "navel gazing" meaning he's withdrawn into his own little world.
"There's four... Precure!"
Again, the natural sentence order screws up the split of the incomplete sentences between characters. XD
In a related note, there's so much of completing each others' sentences in this series that color-coding the dialogue would be a serious exercise in frustration. ;)
イケメン
Okay, so this translates to "cool guy" or "hunk" or the like. He keeps using it to refer to himself. And to me he was giving off the same vibe as Johnny Bravo... so I just went with "hunk."
着ぐるみ
I translated "kigurumi" as "oversized character costume" in this instance, since that seemed to fit best.
井戸端会議に花をさかせるイケメン主婦！
Okay, so I know this is some kind of idiom, but I dunno what it means, so I can only put forth an educated guess.
井戸端会議 is gossip. And 花をさかせる is to make bloom. Now to make gossip bloom, it needs to be spread around and discussed ad nauseam.
So I just translated this as "spreading gossip."
くろうしたかいがあった
Okay, so as best as I can make out "くろうする” to have troubles, hardships. かい could possibly be a counter, 回.
So perhaps something like, "I've encountered hardships."
Part 3 -- Labyrinth discussion
"I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole."
I substituted a Japanese idiom with an English one.
Part 4 -- Searching for Akarun
Okay... so I have no idea what regional dialect this hamster is using, but I've given the translation my best shot. XD Please, if you think I'm wrong and can provide a better translation of what he's saying, then by all means, please do so. ;)
I translated 育児（いくじ） as "childcare."
ラブちゃん 目的がかわってる
I translated this as "You've lost sight of our goal." Though it more literally means "the objective has changed."
Part 5 -- Akarun found and lost
決まってるじゃない やるっきゃない！
I think more literally this means, "It's been decided, right? We've gotta do it." I was thinking "It's obvious, we've got to get her." sounds a bit more natural.
アカルン！ ゲッ…
Well, "Akarun ge-" (with the 't' cut off in "get") is literally what she said. Though it's definitely Engrish, representing that phrase with the cutoff grammatically correctly would be a bit more difficult.

ヤツら３人をずっとつけてきた かいがあった
４人目があらわれる前に たたくのは このオレさまだ！
Yeah.... if you've got a better translation, please fix mine. XD
あげたてフレッシュ！
Yeah, I translated that as "Freshly given!" assuming the あげ is from 上げる.
えー 美希たん けっこうイケてると思わない？
Well... you could interpret this a couple of ways... I chose "suave" but it could also be "sexy" ;)
なんと 歯ごたえのない
Well, this one was kinda difficult. It's more literally something more like, "The consistency against my teeth when I chew you like food doesn't in any way exist." Gah... XD So I originally picked "You're like mush in my mouth." but that still didn't flow well. So I settled on, "I'm just chewing through you like you're not even there."
勝負はあずけたわ…
WTF Eas... what are you saying here? Literally she's saying "I'll leave the fight in your hands." But that doesn't make sense because Soular and Westar have already left and the only ones she could be talking to are the Cures.... So I went with "You win this round..."
