Introduction

Text on screen: When watching TV, be sure to do so in a lit room not too close to the TV.
Twilight: Here in Equestria live ponies, unicorns, and pegasi.
It's a beautiful, magical land full of fun.
I--Twilight Sparkle--study magic in Canterlot, where Princess Celestia resides.
I've discovered something of grave significance.
At this rate, something very bad will befall Equestria!

Pinkie: What? What? What's going to happen?!
I can't wait to find out!

Twilight: And thus, {\i1}My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic{\i0} now starts!

Prologue

Narrator: This is a story from long long ago in the magical land of Equestria.
Two unicorn sisters cooperated to govern Equestria.
The older sister used magic to raise the Sun into the sky and create the day.
While the younger sister moved the Moon and created the night.
Thus they happily worked together for the sake of the ponies who lived in the kingdom.

Narrator: However, unbeknownst to others, the younger sister had become lonesome.
While all the ponies frolicked and had fun together during the day,
they all slept during the night.

Narrator: One night, the younger sister refused to lower the Moon.
The older sister tried to persuade her, but unfortunately the malice in the younger sister's heart turned her into the evil pony Nightmare Moon.
"I will make this into the land of the night," the younger sister said.

Narrator: Thus, the older sister used the strongest magic in ponydom, the Elements of Harmony.
Using them, she magically sealed away the younger sister in the moon.

Narrator/Twilight: Then the older sister took charge of both the Sun and the Moon, and the land has been peaceful ever since.

Twilight: Hmm... The Elements of Harmony. I'm sure I've heard of those before, but where?
