This page is for reference on style as well as translations and explanations of common terms.
Note: The information on this page is currently subject to change and may be in flux quite a bit, Especially prior to the broadcast of episode 1. -- Kanmuri
Precure
Character Names
相田 マナ/キュアハート -- Partner: シャルル
Mana Aida / Cure Heart -- Partner: Cheryl
Note: シャルル is literally the katakana version of the French pronunciation of "Charles" but シャルル is a girl fairy, so I went with a female variant that is as close to the katakana as I can get it. "Cheryl is also an English form of the French, German, Dutch, English, and Scandinavian name Charlotte." Which is, of course, the female version of Charles. (Source: http://www.babynamespedia.com/meaning/Cheryl )
菱川 六花/キュアダイヤモンド -- Partner: ラケル
Rikka Hishigawa / Cure Diamond -- Partner: Raquel
Note: Some places have romanized it as "Rachel", however, Raquel is another form of the same name that more closely matches the katakana in its normal pronunciation.
四葉 ありす/キュアロゼッタ -- Partner: ランス
Alice Yotsuba / Cure Rosetta -- Partner: Lance
Note: While ありす (as アリス) is "Alice", it is also a very legitimate Japanese name on its own, with a long history of use before the influx of western culture. There's many ways to write ありす in kanji. However, in an ad broadcast during Episode 1, we got a shot of Rosetta's trading card, which has her romanized name as "Alice".
剣崎 真琴/キュアソード -- Partner: ダヴィ
Makoto Kenzaki (Leaked) / Cure Sword -- Partner: Davie
Note: I could have done "Davi", but 1) I prefer to stick to normal(ish) names as much as possible; 2) I could see the "Davie" spelling being used as a common real name, unlike Davi; 3) said spelling is androgynous, so it works no matter of Davie is male or female; and 4) "Davie" can easily be read in a way that matches the katakana.
Items
ラビリーコミューン -- Lovely Commune
キュアラビーズ -- Cure Lovies, this season's decors.
Note: ラビーズ is a portmanteau of love (ラブ) and rubies (ルビーズ), making Lovies. Also the source code for this demo site for the Lovely Commune romanizes it as Lovies as well.
Cure Heart
Introduction:
みなぎる愛!キュアハート
Abundant love! Cure Heart
Attack:
あなたに届け! マイスイートハート!
Let my feelings break through! My Sweet Heart!
(We'll see how the attack looks and see if this still fits, or if something else fits better -- Kanmuri)
Cure Diamond
Introduction:
英知の光!キュアダイヤモンド
The light of wisdom! Cure Diamond
Yes, I picked wisdom instead of intelligence for 英知. This may change depending on characterization. --Kanmuri
煌めきなさい、ツインクルダイヤモンド!
Sparkle for me, Twinkle Diamond!
(Not sure if Diamond or Diamonds, will have to see the attack to be sure. And thanks for the suggestion of adding "for me", Magenta -- Kanmuri)
Cure Rosetta
Introduction:
ひだまりポカポカ!キュアロゼッタ
A warm sunny spot! Cure Rosetta
カッチカチのロゼッタウォール!
Stiff and firm Rosetta wall!
(Not sure if she's saying wall (ウォール) or ball (ボール) here, but it's probably the former. -- Kanmuri)
Cure Sword
Introduction:
勇気の刃!キュアソード
The courageous blade! Cure Sword
閃け!ホーリーソード!
Gleam, Holy Sword!
(First heard it as 煌めけ but 閃け is probably correct. Went with Gleam instead of Flash because it sounds cooler, w. -- Kanmuri
Villans
Nothing official yet
Locations
大貝第一中学校 -- Oogai First Junior High School
Note: Yes, I'm using Junior High instead of Middle School because the grades and ages match Junior High in the US (7-9). Middle school is 6-8. --Kanmuri
Style
Fairy gobi
Gobi in this case are the sentence enders. The "vocal tics" if you will. In most cases subbing them is silly, so they will be usually dropped. However, there may be cases where they will need to be used on a one-shot basis. (For example: Something like the "Precure become fairies" episode of Smile, where they drew attention to and specifically talked about them.)
