Translation Notes -- Kanmuri
Part 1 -- Prologue
相手 means partner or companion... in this context it's probably referring to people's "companions," or in other words, their pets, so that's why I translated that as pet.
じゅうい
This is a pun on the reading of veterinarian (獣医) and 10th rank (10位), which are both read "jyuui."
